Chad Johnson and Marvin Harrison Jr.

Ohio State Buckeyes wide receiver Marvin Harrison Jr. is entering the 2023 college football season as the clear-cut top receiver in the country, but Cincinnati Bengals legendary wide receiver Chad Johnson thinks he’s more than just that. He thinks Harrison is the top overall player in the country.

This week, The Comeback caught up with Chad Johnson at Red Bull Flugtag in Cincinnati, where he served as a judge for the event. And during our conversation, he all but guaranteed that Marvin Harrison Jr. is going to win the Heisman Trophy this year, calling the Ohio State receiver “the real deal.”

“Oh my god. Oh my god. The real deal – the real deal,” Johnson said. “Oh, he’s gonna win the Heisman this year. I stand on that. And if I’m wrong, I’ll never eat McDonald’s again.”

For anybody who knows Johnson and his affinity for McDonald’s, this is quite a bold guarantee from the Bengals receiver.

Harrison is not the favorite to win the 2023 Heisman Trophy as USC Trojans star quarterback Caleb Williams tops every Heisman Trophy betting board before the season. But Harrison is unanimously considered the non-quarterback with the best odds to take home college football’s most prestigious award this season.

We’ll have to see if he can pull it off.
