New England Patriots head coach Bill Belichick knows toughness when he sees it, and he saw it from pop sensation Taylor Swift during her concert at Gillette Stadium this offseason.

During an interview with WEEI’s The Greg Hill Show Monday morning, Bill Belichick was asked if he saw any of the Taylor Swift Eras Tour when it came to Foxboro this summer. And Belichick revealed that he did indeed see some of the performance, and he praised her toughness and her ability to play in the rain.

“I saw a little bit of Taylor,” Belichick admitted before noting her ability to perform in the rain. “That was pretty impressive. She’s tough, man. She just stood out there and played right through it.”

Belichick was then asked if he was a Swiftie – a term used affectionately for Swift fans. But he didn’t know what that term meant.

“What does that mean, like you have a sweatshirt or something?” Belichick asked.

But Belichick did make it clear he enjoys her music and he even referenced a specific song – kind of.

“Well look, I’m definitely on the ‘you gotta calm down,” Belichick said, referencing Swift’s hit You Need to Calm Down. “That’s pretty good. You gotta calm down. There’s a lot of times when that’s very appropriate. Just gotta calm down.”

The interview generated all sorts of reactions on social media.

He may not formally consider himself a Swiftie, but it’s clear he likes her music.
