Acknowledging, Accepting and Alleviating Anger

  • Do you have trouble at work because of your anger?
  • Do people say you fly off the handle easily?
  • Is your marriage or relationship at risk becasue you argue too much?
  • Do you have road rage?
  • Do you get aggravated because people don't act the way you think they should?

If you answered "yes" to any of the questions above, you may have an anger problem.

Anger is a natural emotion that is often channeled into destructive and unhealthy behavior.

Acknowledging, Accepting & Alleviating Anger, a course presented by the Mental Health Association several times a year, will teach you to use your anger in ways that will be constructive and healthy for you, your loved ones, and co-workers.

This anger management program is facilitated by certified social workers and therpaists whose expertise include trauma, family violence prevention, and relationship enhancement.

About the Program

Acknowledging, Accepting & Alleviating Anger is a six-week course with classes held once a week on Thursdays from 6:30 to 8:00 PM. There is an enrollment fee. In order to receive a certificate of completion, participants must attend all six classes. Topics for the course are:

  • Week 1: What is My Anger Style?
  • Week 2: What Makes Me Angry?
  • Week 3: Recognizing Anger in Our Bodies
  • Week 4: Expressions of Anger
  • Week 5: Using What You Have Learned
  • Week 6: Putting it All Together

Registration

The class location is at an accessible site in Syracuse, of which participants will be notified upon registration. Pre-registration must be done by phone, when MHA staff will discuss enrollment fees and payment procedures.
